My amateur radio hobby started in the 60s while I was living in Santa Ana, California. Moving from apartment to house and using primarily Collins gear I had over 300 confirmed countries in 1 year. My new location in Inyokern, Calif. on 2 1/2 acres gives me lots of room and lots of quiet. Just the eternal wind to contend with.

The photos below show my station in Inyokern, California. Because of extreme winds (80 to 100 mph) and wide temperature variations everything is built strong. Guy wires are 1/4inch stainless steel ships rigging.

Here's my latest creation. I now am a big gun on 30 meters out here. I made a full sized 30 meter rotating dipole. I had to modify the tower to a tilt over because I just can't climb any more. Not the same idiot I was 20 years ago. Anyway made stress lines to hold it together in the winds but it was on its side and when we cranked it up. It went into an ā€œSā€ curve. I just tell everyone it is a wave guide and designed into the configuration...?
