Here are some articles regarding emotional mental health, self-control,
and how your emotional system works.
- We're all going along, seeking, and trying to find happiness. Why is it,
if we're all seeking happiness, it seems to be one of the hardest
commodities to find or to hold onto for any length of time? We all know pain,
suffering, and loss. Read on to more clearly discover how life for most is a
continual Search for Happiness.
Much of that confusion comes from ignorance of our true nature. Follow tins
link to discover who you really are. In short,
this is a search for truth or reality which comes from my college teaching in
philosophy and psychology.
- I personally believe that there are only two basic types of emotion: Love
and Hate. Now love is a force that attracts. It is equivalent to the attractive
force of gravity. Conversely, hate is a force which repels or pushes away.
In short, what we experience is good or evil. After understand this dichotomy
of emotion, read to discover how your negative emotions (hate) can also be
reduced to another dichotomy and classified as Fear
and Anger Now that we have Love and Hate, Fear and anger,
discover how you can begin to Control your
Emotions You can change your own emotional responses. How? In only
one way. By taking responsibility for your life and actions. I know that we
have not been taught this idea, but your emotions are "Your
responsibility" He stood in front of me, his face was red, wildly
gesturing, and yelling how so and so was a ... and ought to be beaten up or
killed. He felt a pressure to talk and couldn’t quiet himself and listen to
me. We have domestic violence, school shootings, and even freeway rage. Do
you understand your Anger and Violence?
Most of us believe that we will be happy when we get what we want. That is
the cry of the ages, "Give me what I want,
and 'then and only then' will I be happy and content."
- If you want to change yourself, how can you do so? It is pretty simple,
once you can ... It is up to you to have control
over your life. Sometimes you’re up, and sometimes you’re down,
sometimes you smile, and other times you frown. Are you Moody?
Life had lost its excitement and had been replaced by a general enduring of
whatever happened and needed to be done and accomplished. Is your life full
of Events? Your emotions reveal
your feelings of well-being. Your emotions tell how well you are doing. They
reveal how you are living your life. So, how do you handle Life's
Pressures? These holidays are the most stressful time of the year.
There are generally more problems that people face at this time than at any
other. What can be done about all the pressures that you face? Become aware
of how you can get some handle on your Holiday
Pressures.
- Her breathing was fast and shallow, she was emotionally aroused, her gestures
were accentuated. She talked about being upset, even
using the word "stressed." Sara made a common error. She said, "Wouldn't you
be upset by such a stressful situation?" How is your Stress
and Body Tension? I often tell my clients that their enemy is their
tension states. It is not their boss’ anger or attitude, their children’s noise
and temper tantrums, or their spouse's irritation, it is their own reaction
of tension that is their problem. How to use Relaxation
- Most of us think that we are always reacting to what our senses give us.
But one of the elementary lessons in perception reveals that we really become
aware of those things in our environment to which we have some desire or motivation
towards. This is one of the basic components of personality theory and the
testing of personality using projective types of tests. It is not outseide,
- It's You! I would like you to realize
that: YOU ONLY TOUCH THE STATE OF YOUR OWN CONSCIOUSNESS. You only touch Your
own Consciousness. My collge students are full of opinions and ideas,
but these beliefs have not been thought out and these individuals have a strong
fear of questioning or examining their convictions. So it is ironic, that
they have strong beliefs which they have
gotten from others without question.
- One more large earthquake has hit California. Thousands of people are frightened
and their lives are topsy-turvy. Some are going to
move out of California. Many are sleeping in parks, in their cars, staying with
relatives or friends, etc. Others may be in their homes, but
are having trouble sleeping and become emotionally tense and upset with every
aftershock, every vibration, and every loud deep sound. They have communicated
these fears to their children and friends. Almost everybody they talk to is
also upset and agrees that fear and
anxiety is the appropriate reaction to what has happened. The Northridge
Earthquake had just occurred. Later there was the Ridgecrest
Earthquake which was the largest earchquake to occur in Californai for two
calandar years. What about the fears of Y2K at the end of 1999? Are
You Y2K compliant?
- The American Psychiatric Association currently classifies persons into
twelve personality disorders with are coded on Axis II of the
Multiaxial evaluation. What Personality
type are you?
Other articles covering Spirituality, Society, and Politics
- The state will reimburse qualified victims for certain expenses that occur
as a result of crime. These expense include
medical, mental health counseling, dental, funeral/burial, income loss/loss
of support, and even job training. Are you a Victim
of a Crime?
- This year, and each year in the foreseeable future, the families of more
than one million American children will be disrupted by separation and divorce.
Divorce forces parents to address new questions
and effects changes that often affect every aspect of life.
- I am impressed by the impact and importance of spirituality in the health
and mental life of individuals and even the race itself. I see a Lack
of Spirituality
- Recent discovery: prayer, laying on of hands, and mental thoughts of others
aid in patients who are physically ill. Althrough Prayer
has been removed from the schools, it is making a comback in our hospitals
and clinics.
- I have recently been impressed by the impact and importance of Music
and Sound in the health and mental life of individuals and even the race
itself. Here is some very useful information.
- There had been a terrible accident on Norma, at the entrance of our office
complex. It was my mom & dad’s car and my mother was alone. She was unconscious
and bleeding profusely from the head. Here is my reaction to my Mother's
Accident.
- Learn to be thankful - develop a gratitude attitude. In two weeks is Thanksgiving.
There is a possibility of a Season of Happiness.
- Shoot ‘em up, knock ‘em down, and tell ‘em off seems to be a summary
of our cultural manifesto or code of practice these days. Just observe the
content on TV, radio, or the newspaper. Assaulting movie stars, stalkers,
gang shooting, armed robbery, bombing, and murder are the constant and normative
news and substance. There is more than our Violent
Culture.
- We Americans pride ourselves as being open-minded, free, and believe that
we have entered the "Scientific Age." As I look around at
people and events taking place, it seems that we’re not really so free, open,
or scientific. For example, read the Political
Psychology of Psychology
- As a psychologist, I am constantly shown the importance of several areas
of life for my patient's health. Today,
I am just going to share some of the recent information that has been passing
through my practice. Your Medical Insurance
can injure you - you have a high probability that your mental health insurance
will restrict your treatment options. Did you know a new Federal law says
that millions of Americans cannot get certain medical
treatments and services. Medical Freedom is advertised but
instead it is restricted. Further revelations follow in Medicare
and other Insurance since I’m writing this as a Consumer "Alert." Did you
know that your freedom and levels of personal determination are progressively
being eroded? You and your loved one’s mental and emotional health is under
severe attack. We're going to go back and resurrect an old finding -
the 80/20 rule. Did you know that 20% of the insurance pool incurs 80% of
all the costs? So what? What does that mean to you? Well, just think
about it for a minute. The current managed care system does cut costs for
the healthy. But what about the poor or the
sick? Many mental health insurance plans restrict you to few providers.
Even more importantly, these plans restrict the amounts and types of treatment.
Most plans are short term crisis oriented and limit payment to practitioners.
Thus, when you see many of their providers, you are being sent to the insurance
company's doctors - those who keep the insurance company satisfied. Do
you think that this is very different from worker's compensation or an insurance
injury doctor?
- Response and observations to the Oklahoma
City Bombing. Lesson from Waco Texas
is the question, "What’s shocking about such an event?" Just looking
at history, one notices that this event is nothing new. What is that streak
of insanity that occasionally reveals itself? Having watched the crisis
in Littleton Colorado, I have been thinking and observing the causative factors.
I watched the nation agonize over the Columbine High School shootings in Littleton,
Colorado and other similar events. The whole news frenzy over how this happened,
what could have been done about it, what can be done to prevent another occurrence
of it. Some of my ideas and reactions follow.
More to come....
