Configuring Outlook Express for Win95

Introduction

These instructions were designed to help subscribers configure Outlook Express using the configuration wizard. If you already have Outlook Express configured for another service, click here.

Step 1: Your Name

This is what you want people to see when they recieve an e-mail from you.
  • Click in the box beside Display Name and enter the name you wish people to see.
  • Then click NEXT.

Step 2: Your E-mail Address

Your e-mail address is your address on the Internet. It is where people send any e-mail that they want you to have. Ridgenet currently has two addresses which subscribers can use for their e-mail address. Either address will work.
USERNAME@ridgenet.net or
USERNAME@ridgecrest.ca.us.
  • Click in the box beside E-mail Address and enter your e-mail address. (IF you are unsure what your e-mail address is, it is your username@ridgenet.net)
  • Then click NEXT.

Step 3: Configuring The Mail Server

The incoming and outgoing mail servers is where your computer searches for your e-mail.
  • Incoming mail (Pop3): mail.ridgenet.net
  • Outgoing mail (SMTP): mail.ridgenet.net
  • Then click NEXT

Step 4: Mail Server Logon

  • Beside POP account name, put in your USERNAME.
  • Beside Password, put in your PASSWORD
  • Click NEXT.

Step 5: Friendly Name

This is the name that is given to the configuration for this e-mail account in Outlook Express.

  • Click in the box below account name, and enter a name for your mail account.
  • Click NEXT.

Step 6: Connection Method

This is where you select the method connection you have to the internet.

  • Click Connect using my phone line
  • Click the down arrow and select your Ridgenet connection.
  • Click NEXT.
After you click next, you will see the finish screen. Click finish and your done.
