Ridgenet Acceptable Use Policy
RidgeNET reserves the right to withdraw use of the network to anyone who
fails to follow the network's acceptable use policy.

1. DIAL UP SERVICES TERMS
AND CONDITIONS
(a) FEES
Setup fee and/or the first month's fee are due within ten days of
opening your account. Each month's fee is due by the first of that
month. Any accounts fifteen (15) days past due will be suspended and
charged a $5.00 late fee. RidgeNet reserves the right to cancel any
delinquent accounts without notice. YOUR ACCOUNT IS NOT MONITORED FOR
USAGE, IF YOU WISH TO CANCEL YOU MUST CALL US OR WE WILL ASSUME YOU
WISH TO CONTINUE SERVICE FOR ANOTHER MONTH AND WILL BILL ACCORDINGLY.
Cancelation of service require a cancelation number, given to you by a
Ridgenet employee at the time of your cancel. Without this cancelation
number, you, the customer, will continue to owe for Ridgenet service
regardless of usage.
(b) DIAL-UP ACCOUNTS
A Dial-up Account is limited to one user per account (Only one
simultaneous login per account.) Accounts are dynamically addressed.
Running of Internet Servers including but not limited to mail, news,
web, muds, etc is prohibited on Dial-up accounts.
(c) USAGE
Unmetered attended access is allowed. Any illegal use of an account,
connection, or server space may result in immediate disconnection of
your service pending investigation. Making multiple simultaneous
connections is prohibited. Probing system resources and configurations
for possible security holes, bugs, or other malfunctions are
prohibited. Giving, loaning or in any way permitting another person to
use your account is prohibited. Giving out your password to another
person or entity is prohibited. RidgeNet will not be responsible for
any monetary or other losses resulting from such disconnection.
(d) CAMPING
"Camping" on RidgeNet is prohibited. Camping is defined as maintaining
an open connection while not personally and actively using the account.
Using automated bots, e-mail checkers, pingers, etc to maintain
"Camped" connections is prohibited. Continuous connections exceeding
eight hours will be accepted as proof of camping unless the subscriber
provides reasonable explanation and repeat occurrences are rare or
previously announced to RidgeNet staff.
(e) DATA STORAGE
Storage of unlicensed software is prohibited. Illegal or unauthorized
access and/or use of data on the network is prohibited.
(f) SPAMMING
"Spamming" on RidgeNet is prohibited. Spamming is defined as either
email sent to users who have not volunteered their email address to the
sender or as an off-topic posting made to newsgroups. Spamming may
result in immediate disconnection of your service pending
investigation. The penalties for spamming can include termination of
your account and/or a $5000 fine.
(g) INFORMATION AND CONTENT
RidgeNet exercises no control over the Content of information passing
through RidgeNet. RidgeNet will not warrant the accuracy or
confidentiality of any information contained on RidgeNet. The users of
RidgeNet are solely responsible for the information contained in
RidgeNet. Your use of RidgeNet is conditional upon your agreement to
indemnify RidgeNet for any action arising from your use or transmittal
of information or material deemed obscene, threatening, or otherwise
illegal, including improper use of copyrighted materials.
(h) DEDICATED ACCOUNTS
Dedicated accounts are for one organization only. Running Internet
Servers is permitted on Dedicated accounts.
(i) RESALE
RidgeNet accounts and services are not open to resale. Any RidgeNet
services including but not limited to news, e-mail, irc, web pages, ftp
site, etc are for the sole use of the subscriber and can not be loaned,
borrowed, or sold to any other person or entity.
(j) LIABILITY
RidgeNet is not responsible for damage due to the use of any
information or software obtained by or through the use of RidgeNet
services. Any illegal use of any software may result in legal action,
pending investigation. RidgeNet will not be responsible for any
monetary or other losses resulting from the use of any information or
software obtained by or through the use of RidgeNet services.
(k) MINOR ACCOUNTS
Minors (under age 18) are not permitted to open RidgeNet accounts.
(l) HARRASSMENT
Harassing of other RidgeNet subscribers through network resources is
prohibited. Sending of unwanted e-mail, files, news, or other contacts
may constitute harassment. A subscriber should express the unwanted
nature of any communications in clear and direct language. If a
subscriber continues to receive unwanted communications, they may
contact RidgeNet management for assistance. Harassing communications
originating outside RidgeNet should be forwarded to federal
authorities. RidgeNet has no control over activities outside our
immediate system.
2. DISCLAIMER
IN NO EVENT SHALL RIDGENET BE LIABLE FOR ANY DIRECT, CONSEQUENTIAL,
INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, OR SPECIAL DAMAGES WHATSOEVER, INCLUDING WITHOUT
LIMITATION, DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF BUSINESS PROFITS, BUSINESS INTERRUPTION,
LOSS OF AND/OR DAMAGE TO DATA, AND EQUIPMENT.
RIDGENET RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE TO ANYONE WITHOUT CAUSE, AND
WITHOUT RECOURSE.
RidgeNet reserves the right to modify this agreement. These terms and
conditions reflect the entire agreement between RidgeNet and the users of
RidgeNet services and will supersede all prior oral and written agreements
and understandings. By continuing to use RidgeNet services, the user agrees
to abide by the terms and conditions set forth in the latest version of the
Terms and Conditions.
